Peppy Marguarita
Line bred Peppy San/Leo Grulla Mare
96.8% NFQHA

Silver grulla mare

Peppy is a cute, catty, cutting/reining-type mare. She is out of a 15.1 hh coal black granddaughter of Peppy San and sired by a grulla stallion who goes back to Peppy San, Jessie James and Poco Bueno. She has at least 6 crosses to Leo, 3 to Joe Reed, 2 to Peppy San, 1 Poco Bueno, 4 to King, and more good horses.  She is straight legged, short backed and has a baby-doll head. Both parents are FQHA registered.

In April of 2000, a full brother to her sold (as a 3 year old) for $14,500 at Triangle Sales' auction in Oklahoma.  He was a top-10 horse there, and they usually have 500 to 700 horses each time.  Another full brother, Sunny Peppy Pine, has his ROM in dun factor in IBHA, placed in the Top Ten at the 2002 IBHA World Show in reining, was 2002 Reserve Circuit Champion at the Gateway to the World Show, and as of October 1, 2002 was tied for 4th nationally in reining in IBHA.  He was also the 2002 Open and Amateur Reining Champion at the Colorado State Fair.  In 2003, he has already earned Circuit Champion in Amateur Reining and also earned 5 seconds and one third in Open at the Colorful Colorado Show.

Peppy's dam is a really nice big mare with a huge hip and deep heartgirth. She was unshown, but was broke as a two year old and used on a ranch in Colorado before beginning her broodmare career as a four year old. She was sired by Peppy Sun Deck who also sired Peppys Top Deck who has sired Cutting, Reining, and Team Penning money winners and a Yearling Reserve Champion Halter Stallion at the Colorado State Fair.

Her sire was only shown one time AQHA at the Denver Stock Show. He had been sent to a reining trainer and took 4th out of a class of 16 at his first and only show.

Peppy's sire, Peppy Plan, is homozygous for both the dun and the black gene.  If he would stand to outside mares, we'd sure breed to him every now and then, because we really like Peppy.

Sunny Peppy Pine, a full brother who has earned ROM in dun factor in IBHA, placed in the Top Ten at the 2002 IBHA World Show in reining, was 2002 Reserve Circuit Champion at the Gateway to the World Show, and as of October 1, 2002 was tied for 4th nationally in reining in IBHA.  He was also the 2002 Open and Amateur Reining Champion at the Colorado State Fair.  New!  He is the 2003 and 2004 Colorful Colorado Circuit Reining Champion, open and amateur both.
