Sire: Crowheart WYO Boy, 2004 Grullo Roan, ~30% Blue Valentine
Dam: Daltons Queen Chic 12 of 14 horses on papers are point and/or money earners. Granddaughter of Hall of Fame stallion, Peponita. We have never genetically tested this mare for color, but suspect she might carry a cream gene. This is the gene that causes buckskin and palomino horse colors. She also has brindle striping.
This is a "big, strapping" colt that might be suitable for roping, barrel racing, or ranch work. He could be a "can do" horse! His full brother from 2009 string tests at 15.3 hands for a mature height.
Based upon his color before shedding and his eye color at birth, we suspect he could possibly have a cream color gene. We do not plan to color test him, though. If he does, it may have come through the bottom side of his dam's pedigree through blacks and browns (which could have been dark sooty buckskins or smoky blacks that hid the gene). I have not researched this, so am just calling him black.
A note from his new owner: This colt is probably one, if not "the," SMARTEST colts I have worked with EVER..... I mean I have calm ones, willing, smart but this guy acts like he has had lessons before and knows he just DOES........ he never fights pressure just comes to you and faces you like he knows to face you. First time I asked him to walk forward he walked like a broke dog ! NO BABY DOES THAT ! - he's shy from being out since he was born so like to touch him but he is curious and kind of doesn't care just doesn't know. VERY SMART!
